company ,here in Dubai .I am 68years old, suffering
from long time cancer of the breast. From all
indications my condition is really deteriorating
and it's quite obvious that I won't live more than
2 months according to my doctors. This is because
the cancer stage has gotten to a very bad stage.
i dont want your pity but i need your trust.
My late husband died early last year from heart
attack, and during the period of our marriage we
couldn't produce any child. My late husband was
very wealthy and after his death,I inherited all
his business and wealth. The doctor has advised
me that I will not live for more than 2 months,
so I have now decided to spread all my wealth,
to contribute mainly to the development of
charity in Africa, America, Asia and Europe.
am sorry if you are embarrased by my mail.
i found your e-mail address in the web
directory, and i have decided to contact you,
but if for any reason you find this mail
offensive, you can ignore it and please
accept my appology.
before my late husband died he was a major oil
tycoon,in kuwait and deposited the sum of 25
million dollars (Twenty Five million dollars)
in a company in europe some years ago, thats all
i have left now,i need you to collect this funds
and distribute it yourself to charity .
so that when i die my soul can rest in peace.the
funds will be entirely in hands and management.
i hope God gives you the wisdom to touch very
many lives, that is my main concern.
20% of this money will be for your time and
effort,while 80% goes to charity.
Please kindly get in contact with me on the follow private email

One of the older internet scams out there.

Check out http://www.thespamletters.com for more examples and some humorous replies.

In Sweden we call them "Nigeria letters" (due to one of the first letters which was about a nigerian person needing help) and the police actually has a special address to forward them to. I usually don't care, and just delete them ;)

That wasn't so bad. You should have seen the e-mail that a lot of people received last week from someone posing to be a large (as large as it gets here anyway) swedish bank.
That letter was really hillarious. It was probably automatically translated into swedish from another language (korean, is my guess) and it was CRAP!
If you got fooled by that, you really deserved to get your money lost ;)

Do people actually fall for those?
Yes....i've seen people fall for worse than this. Example: Someone fell for this and wrote an entire article about it in the Michigan Studies Weekly magazine... http://www.geocities.com/lakemichiganwhales/ ...

Be careful... there is an eBay email going around and it is not so easily detected... :)

It states that there have been errors on people's past transactions and so you have a reasonable size of money needing to be refunded to you. However, in order to assure that the money goes to the appropriate account after our first errors in these cases, we will need you to email us with your name, email address, birthday, address, social security number, bank name, and account number.

First off, to be so obvious, it is retarded to think that people would fall for it. What is even more retarded is that for something so obvious to be written in this manner, there must be people who have fallen for it.

Moe, have fun on here and be serious in equal measures. Don't create pointless posts for the sake of your post count.

You're still doing it. Apologising is pushing your count up to meet your goal. Don't post anything else until you have a genuine comment or question. How does that sound?

Yup! I wish I had the time (and brains!) to do one of those. I was inspired, but unable to follow through with it. (God, I hate it when that happens!) :D
