please help...

After uchidachi steps forward.... "YAH"

then it's step back w/front right foot kessen goes under to left side.

then step back w/left front foot kessen goes back under to right side

then it's 3 steps back, left right left ending w/the right foot forward.

shidachi...

after steppingforward with counter cut "toh"

then step forward w/left back foot

then 3 steps forward right left right while moving kessen to uchidachi's eyes

ends w/right foot forward.

is this correct footwork?

it really sucks only having class once a week.

there should be a 24-hour hachidan help hotline.

No problem. It should hopefully be correct since we practiced sanbonme quite a lot last sunday

Ah, I practiced this one a lot last Sunday as well. If I concentrate on the footwork, then I can do it, but I can't remember the bokken movements and vice versa.

You can look at this page for a more visual representation of what sanbonme is supposed to look like

yeah those vids dont work on my computer for some reason. I use the kata vids on kendo world mainsite but the hakama of course makes it hard to see the foot work.

Did you have to practice by yourself?

If so do you have any way of checking maai when youre alone?

thats my biggest issue right now. If my maai is good, my footwork is bad. If my footwork is good, my maai is bad. Oh well, I heard that it takes a whole lifetime to learn one kata perfectly.

Did you download the movies first? I remember having an issue of just clicking it and not being able to see the movie. So just right click and choose "save as" to see the movies.

As far as practicing yourself, it's better than nothing but it's still preferrable to practice with a partner. I don't think that there is a way to practice maai when doing it alone though.

shidachi steps back with left foot , parrying thrust. then steps forward with right foot, thrust with " toh ' step forward with left foot, then 3 steps forward, right , left, right, tip of bokken in Uchdachi's face, step back with left foot, right foot, uchidachi comes back to chudan, then proceed back 3 steps, left, right, left, back to center , then break..

the uchidachi part you wrote is correct..
