How do I maintain a retractable tai chi sword

hi to all who are reading this. i would like to ask for your advise on how i can maintain my sword. i have just purchased a retractable Tai Chi sword made for practice. i would like to know how i can maintain it. Please give me as much advise,help and tips as you can. the other things is that i seem to have problems when retracting the blade back to its handle. Gets jammed or stuck. Help in this as well.

Can i apply single oil on the blade of my sword?

You would probably get a better reply from sword forum or your sword's manufacturer. I believe WD40 is a degreaser and would not preserve your blade.
