Is ther more than one way to tie the Hakama ? (like other martialarts do)

Hi Mark,

The answer to your question is a definite yes.

I used to train in Kendo but now solely in Iaido, both arts have different ways of tying the hakama, even in Iaido there are different ways to tie it off at the front depending on your school.

The best method of all is the all famous "Ask your Sensei" and tie your hakama the way they instruct you.

i agree. the best way would just to be ask your instructor. we tie our hakama the same way for kendo and iaido in my dojo but many styles are different.

The gist of the thread is that it depends on the style that you are practicing. But as the others on the thread have said, it's best to ask your sensei for his or her preferences.
