You might want to specify a country or something.

Not shure where Broward County is from Orlando but we have 2 here in Orlando now. Next is Ft. Myers, then Miami.

You might consider that this is a world-wide message board whose members might not be aware of the abbreviations for states in one country out of hundreds.
And yeah, I'm being nit-picky here but it's one of my pet peeves.

What ever guys. There are two in Miami actually. Mike Mead is in Hollywood if I am not mistaken. Good Kendo there. The other is Mr. Pla. While I have not practiced with him I belive him to be of sound character and of good spirit. He can be reached by his website @ http://miami-komei-jyuku.org/ . Mr Mead can be reached @ http://www.angelfire.com/ne2/shidogakuinmiami/

Can't say my geography classes ever consisted in learning the abbreviations of US states. One of my pet peeves also. The world is a big place. MOst of us have never even heard of Wal mart. Which is obviously a shop that sells badly spelled walls.

Mr. Pla in miami is a man of no respect or budo. one of my current students went to check out his dojo, to see what kendo was about. all this guy did was scream at his face, while running into him. telling the kid (a 13 year old) that that was the power of kendo (a very loud scream?) needless to say this man discuraged the bejesus out of this kid and almost turned him away from the practice of kendo. he is now my student. and a good student he has turned out to be. his dojo should be avoided.
if you need info. about the times i teach, please let me know.

if you need info. about the times i teach, please let me know. When I went it was quite different. He was teaching students how to hit in the different areas, rotating turns with those who had bogu on so that all of the beginners could have a chance at practicing the different hits. He wasn't anything like you said. At the end of the class he practiced with bleda, who is his student, in full bogu and that was the only time I heard him scream, but that was just his...scream. These were his results in a kendo tournament. He didn't come off like a person overflowing with his own hubris, he was very patient and took time to teach the people. I think your student took it the wrong way.

i don't know, the boy called me crying, due to the man's lack of anything.
the guy asked the kid to show him what he had learned at a different dojo, when he did the responce where insults. Then he asked the kid to stand in the middle of the floor, the guy walked to the other side of the dojo and came running and screaming at the kid, as if he was going to bash him in with the shinai. to me that is not a very good or respectfull way to carry yourself or the name of the art.
then again the boy may have taken it the wrong way.

Hmm, ask bleda, as he is his student, I really didn't see lack of respect from him, maybe there was a big understanding. Also, where do you teach? Is it close to the shores area?
there was also a girl here that met Mr. Pla at a camp or something and he took the time to help her, he just doesn't seem like the type of guy the kid described to you.

i will have a word with the kid about it, and be sure to know that if he has put me in a bad spot, by bending the truth i will suspend him from class, for this in the martial arts is not looked well upon.
PLEASE NOTE: I NOW PUBLICALY SAY THAT I MAY HAVE SPOKEN POORLY, OUT OF PLACE AND UNRIGHTFULLY SO ABOUT MR. PLA. I APPOLOGIZE ABOUT THE MISSUNDERSTANDING AND WILL TAKE IT UPON WITH MY STUDENT. AND WOULD LIKE TO TAKE BACK ANIGHINT I MAY HAVE SAID AGAINST HIM. IF ANYONE IS LOOKING FOR A DOJO IN THE MIAMI AREA LOOK FOR SENSEI PLA.
i really do not know where the soreS area is, but i teach in Davie.
