Just look at a map or ask for directions to Kishine Koen and that is where Yokohama Kenritsu Budokan is. The is a subway station very close to it too but I forget what subway line or station.
Also, they will be a contact for other dojos in the area as well. There are tons, you just have to ask around.

Kishine Koen is on the Yokohama Subway line going north. It's about 8/10 minutes from Yokohama station!! (Kanagawa Ken Yokohama Budokan)... Just go upstairs to ground level, make a right, and you'll see it in one minute!!!

Seems like we are all talking about the same place Kanagawa Budokan situated next to the Kinishine Koen Station. Well a small walk around a swamp like thing, and then up on the hill.
Good luck with it all.

I moved to the toyoko line near Shibuya and Yokohama and am also looking for a dojo which doesn’t expect you to stay for a whole year but come back after afew monthes. My other dojo is two hours away. The one I thought of joining practice was a little too hard to get used too for me.
I really hate dojo floating so would rather have two dojo than about five or just one which is once a week :(. If any one is looking for one in near Shibuya or Yokohama I'll go along with you.
I had an offer from some one practicing near Shibuya and if it’s still open tell me when it’s OK for me to go along :).

That's the one, although it looks so different during the day. Kendo practices start at 7 (although usually 7:15) so the darkness makes it look so different.

I went there the other day and it took me about two hours trying to find the place :(. On the map it looks like only a few minutes from Hakuraku station. Wondered around for a bit until I saw some kyudo people and flowed them 20 minutes up the road.
Best to take the subway :silly:.
Only 300 yen for one practice which seems good. I wonder if I could take an aikido class just for fun :D?

musha, how often is the class? aside from the 300 yen per practice are there anymore payments required i.e. membership dues, etc.

On the site it says the classes are:
Tues-Friday for Adults
6:30-8pm
No practice from the 22nd-5th of next year.
One time 300 yen
One month 2000 yen
Three months 4000 yen
Six months 6000 yen
One year 10,000 yen
1500 yen for insurance
Three hachidan and one sixth dan from around the area.
You must be a resident of Kanagawa to regularly join in with the practice. Healthy and follow rules.
The guy at the door said it’s a practice not a class so there are no real members.
Any one who might have been should be able to tell you about the practice if I can't get out the this flue before next week :disapp:.

The practices are actually from 7 (although they usually start a little late) to about 8:15 or 8:30. Tuesday through Friday is correct. As far as I know, there is no need to pay the insurance fee. At least no one has asked me yet. Besides the official sensei, there are also many other rokudan and higher people who visit fairly frequently. Even though there are no "real" members, there is a fairly regular crowd that attends.
The practice format has changed a little recently. Usually there is about 30 minutes of kihon and mawari-geiko before going into jigeiko. Some days they do kata. There are bokutou there to borrow, but no kodachi. Lately, they just do some quick kirikaeshi, some men uchi, and hop right into jigeiko. I don't know if it is because all the big exams are over for now or if it is the holidays or it's cold (doesn't feel cold there to me, but they seem to think so, I used to practice in a Japanese elementary school gym, so for those who know what that experience is like, that's cold!) so they want to get into the genki keiko right away.
It's definitely worth the visit, but the usual routine of watching a practice and asking permission first to practice there seems to be the norm, unless anyone tells you otherwise, but I went through that and I have seen other Japanese people do the same so it seems the way things work.
