Hey guys!!!
If you have any trivias or interesting facts about kendo that we haven't or we should know, this thread is the one for you. Just post it here and let everybody know about that piece of history or story that you've been wanting to share. Keep on posting, trivia buffs!!!
Here's mine:
"Abe Goradaiyu (fl. 1668) is the first man known to have used the word "kendo". Kendo, or "ken no michi", the way of the sword, describes, the teachings of his ryu, the Abe Ryu. Gorodaiyu, a disciple of the Taisha Ryu, devised a method of swordsmanship in which the emphasis was on mental and moral training rather than on just gaining expertise in a physical technique. At about the same time, the Heijo Muteki Ryu, founded by Yamanouchi Renshinsai, also used the term "kendo" to describe its teachings."
