e-bogu 4mm/2mm or the 5mm/2.5mm?

I favor light weight and speed over anything else.

I dont mind pain.

Just need to know the diff.

Don't worry about lightweight/speedy bogu... My philosophy is that if you have something that is a little heavier, you may need to work a little harder in the beginning, but you will get used to it anyway and won't realize a difference in the long run. Also, lightweight gear sacrifices durability for light weight. Just get a better set so that it lasts longer. It's not so much about being speedy and not afraid of bruises, but more about getting gear that will last and not have to replace expensive gear too soon.

My two cents...

I see, thank you. But what about the men dare(flaps) I see some men dare tend to curl up a lot more than others. Is this related to the mm stiching or is it just because of the way you store the bogu?

I believe it is the manner in which you store the Men. For example, tieing the himos around the Men Kanto style, and storing it like that, will make the Men-dare 'curl' in a unqiue way.

I have the 5/2.5mm set myself. E bogu actually upgraded my tare to 4mm for free. I have had the men flaps tied up for a while now, I think they are curled pretty well by now. All I can say is that the 5/2.5mm set is really nice. The do feels like it could reflect bullets. The kote are nice and solid, not as nice as my sempai's 1mm pair but I like them. The men is the lightest of the 3 pair of bogu I've worn, and feels the best when you get hit. I would sugguest the 5/2.5 set. Good luck with your new bogu.

I have a 5 / 2.5 set of bogu.. almost 1.5 years in it an no problems so far other than normal wear and tear (men himo strings starting to fray where they get hit etc..)

Yep but I'm not sure you can actually mix and match there. I think that essentially you have regular, xl and xxl which have different measurements. You can get a do custom made to fit you but it is going to cost beaucoup dollars.

I see you are in florida, are you going to the tournament in February.I'm sure they will have people from e-bogu and eguchi there so you can talk to them in person.

Finally got my bogu in. Everything fits fine except the kote. it feels too tight going across my hand(pinky across to index) like I cant separate my fingers inside the kote. But also I havent broke them in yet so I'm not sure if I need bigger ones or not.

yeah I switched up at the last minute and got the 5/2. I will find out in time how stupid that move was. I'll let you know after my first practice wed night.
