Hey everybody,
Finally got my bogu, pretty damn cool...

Question though. What is the best way to dry out
the kote? Mine were soaked the very first time I wore them!

And along those lines, should I stretch out the hand leather as it dries or is it best to leave the kote in its "natural" clenched position?

Appreciate any advice and words of wisdom.

Thanks.

Don't stretch out the leather, just smooth it out of it's wrinkled state. When you get your bogu home, remove the kote and men from the bag and dry in a cool place away from direct heat or sunlight. Here in Canada you can get drying racks meant for hockey equipment, they work well for kendo stuff too.

When you say you finally got your bogu, you were waiting for it from the retailer or you were waiting to be approved to wear bogu?

Hello burger boy

I can give you this tip I use myself. It is quite easy and cheap.

After keiko put some newspaper inside your kote. Do not try to stuff the paper too tight and too much because kote’s palm leather might stretch out.

Also remember get the paper out before keiko next. It is quite unpleasant if you notice that your kote’s thumb is full of paper.

Neil and Jklak,
Thanks very much for the advice.

Hai_hai,
I was referring to getting approval from my sensei. It took me a year to get into bogu. Some just learn slower (in my case, alot slower!) than others.

Thanks again all.

Great, I know a number of people who have come and gone within weeks of starting.

Is it true that women learn Kendo faster than men?

(This is of the topic)

Does it matter if you learn kendo faster or slower than others do?
I think that the principle is that you never stop your training.
Just keep on going till the day you die.

I think that the difference is in the individuals. Some people just have the talent and others must do more work

It depends on the person. Some people learn faster than other people regardless of gender. You could make a generalization that women do learn faster than men because men think about sex more then 50 percent of the time that they are awake. Can't obtain ki-ken-tai-ichi with that.
