There have been rumors saying that "there will be college championship soon in US."
Anyone have any info about this? If this is true, I would like to be in it.

Hey this is good news, does anyone else know any other countries that have unversity kendo tournaments(besides Japan, USA, Australia)? I'm not quite sure but I'm thinking of something like international university kendo championships, what do you think?

thats kool idea! but if you say only college people can enter, People in this forum might get mad. They will say that a high schooler can enter the tournament, because excluding people is a sign of xenophobia. Can a non college student be college champion or enter the college championships? Poeple on kendo world forum would say yes! back to the subject, that would be a good idea Aru-man...just do not put any restrictions, otherwise you will get a lot of flack from KFW!

Ha ha very funny, no, obviously if it's going to happen there would be some sort of restriction, like university students only, and no I dont think that's asking to much. though if it does happen I wonder how it affect the WKC and also is having another international competition a good thing for kendo and the kendoka themselves?

Add UK to the list. I was there in March.
A team from Germany (Uni of Mainz?) played there as guest.
Japanese students are everywhere in the world. Keeping them in Uni clubs outside Japan isn't a difficult task. Afterall, Uni Kendo in foreign countries are far more relaxing than those they had.
However, if there is a International tournement, expect a lot of Japanese fighting. Many of the good ones still studies in Uni.

Hmm.. Would this include grad students and alumni? Well in that case then, my college would have (at best) 1 full team in which each member was an NCKF member including me and 1 or 2 people from Japan. Now that I subtract alumni, then it would be 3 former NCKF team members and 1 person from Japan and an extra.
Guess which college I went to? :D :D :D
(Hint-It is in Northern Cal of course. LOL)

edit-forgot that one person graduated last year...

For the Shoryuhai tournament at Harvard some requirements are that you are a full time student at a certified college, and you have to have a transcript for proof in order to participate in the undergraduate team competition (they don't have a grad. team competition) and coaches can't participate...I think alumni can participate in the individual tournament though, but I'm not too sure...just look it up on the website from my first link on this thread.

Hm...I've noticed that SUNY Stony Brook got second place in both team and individual events. Interesting, since I'm going there for college. Maybe I can make the team... O_o
