Greetings everyone,
On behalf of the Southern California Naginata
Federation, the Florida Naginata Dojo announces and
extends a cordial invitation to the Annual Spring
Naginata Seminar that will be held in Tallahassee, FL,
April 8-9, 2006.
The seminar will introduce beginning students to the
beautiful art of Atarashii Naginata under the
expertise of the premier instruction of Helen Nakano
Sensei (Kyoshi) and Jean Yien Sensei (Godan).
For returning students, an opportunity to refresh
and polish skills as well as advance to the next level
in your personal training will be provided.
We will cover the basics (kamae, ashi-sabaki, basic
strikes and blocks) and as proficiency increases
training will progress to uchikaeshi, Shikake-Oji, and
bogu practice.
Seminar Location:
The Lawrence Gregory Dade Street Community Center
1115 Dade Street
Tallahassee, FL
Time:
8:30 AM (registration or check-in on Saturday)
9:00 AM- 4:30 PM: Training on both Saturday
and Sunday
Training fees:
Saturday and Sunday: $75.00
Saturday only: $45.00
Naginata Rental: $10.00
Lunch will be provided on-site Saturday and Sunday:
Our usual fare of Make-your-own-sandwiches, chips,
cookies and drinks provided.
Hotel accommodations:

I was not able to secure a reasonable contract for
accommodations this year; however, in searching the
internet, the La Quinta South is offering an internet
special of $87.00 (plus taxes) per night for single
rooms and $81.00 (plus taxes) per night for double
rooms. This is the hotel that I have booked for
Nakano Sensei and Yien Sensei. If you anticipate
coming to the seminar, I encourage you to make your
reservations soon as there is no indication of how
long these rates will be available. Reservations can
be cancelled up to 6PM the day of arrival.
Driving directions:
I-10 Westbound: exit 209A-left on Highway 319 –right
on Apalachee Parkway (US 27). La Quinta on the right.
I-10 Eastbound: exit 199 - right on Monroe Street-left
on Apalachee Parkway (in front of the Capitol), pass
the Governor’s Square Mall and Target (both on your
left). La Quinta will be on your left.
