I think it's a DIVX codec, download either the DIVX player or install the codec and you should be able to see it.

Intermediate kendo player vs a not very good wma guy, not all that interesting.

I know I should want nothing to do with these ppl but...

I would love to get a posse of kendoka together to reign death on these morons.

What are you talking about. These people look quite dedicated and are having fun. Do you really think kendo is that hot to look down on people?

They're just a bunch of LARPers, harmless fun.

Sorry, WMA == Western Martial Arts, in other words a European sword recreationist. He was wearing a steel helm and chain (I think) and using a shinai single-handed. The kendoka kept tapping the helm (for all the good that would do) but then the WMA guy wasn't swinging with any authority either.

I don't think either 'competitors' were good enough/confident enough to compare the two arts properly.
I don't know much about western swordsmanship, but the kendo was completely lacking kiai...

I dont think you can see it but the spells are "cast" with a tissue or rag filled with rice or beans. If it hits you, you have to do whatever the "spell" dictates.

I love how they're sliding around so much on that floor. The WMA guy looked like he was just trying to keep from falling over.

I dont think this is a good representation. its a so-so kendo guy against someone who is moving around and (it looks like) trying not to fall because for some reason he's wearing slippery boots.

I have more respect for european martial arts than that. I'd like to see an expert in A.R.M.A. cross swords with a Kenjutsu instructor.

that would be an interesting thing to watch.

Sorry, I thought that was pretty dumb. I also hate people comparing different fighting styles.

I haven't scene medieval larpers, but SCA (society of creative anachronism) fights I've seen have been rather a lot faster and more brutal so it was hardly indicitive of medieval swordsmanship.

Blah. Maybe I'm being too serious but I don't like things being a case of "this fighting style is better than that one" when clearly used in situations that weren't applicable to the development of the art/style.

That makes me mad how the kendoka keeps moving back and back and back @1:35... it doesn't show very good... eh, I forgot the word... oh well, i'll do some research later on(where you do not think about throwing your own life away at all).
