Since IKF (International Kendo Federation) was elected affiliate of the GAISF (General Association of International Sports Federations) and the abbreviation IKF is allready taken by the "INTERNATIONAL KORFBALL FEDERATION" they have to change the name.

What I've heard is that they are considering "FIK" wich would probably be pronounciated "Fick". Now correct me if I am wrong. Isn't that quite a rude word in German?

Maybe someone of you reading this have a connection to IKF officials and can pass this thought on if it turns out to be right.

In this video about korfball (http://www.korfball.com/video/ikf/) they do say that it is recognized by the olympic comittee. Never heard of it until today, kind of like a basketball for short people who got tired of being dunked on.

One more link, the Olympic Recognition page for this korfball.

Hey, lets not forget netball (http://www.netball.org/)! Also recognized by the Olympic committee, as are some other odd sports.

What are the differences between korfball and netball? The korfbasket (?) looks like it might be a bit higher, and the diagram of the netball court looks closer to a basketball court.

AH, just found this PDF (http://www.ikf.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=389&Itemid=50) that compares korfball, netball, and basketball.

Sorry for the posting flurry, just got curious about this sport I had never heard of, and then the Olympic Recognized International Sports Federations page brought me even more to explore.

Is the IKF really changing its name? Or is this just a hypothetical thing?
