  • The 2nd Kendo World Tokyo Keiko-kai - Saturday July 20, 2013

    Dear Kendoka,

The Kendo World Team hopes that your training is going well, and that you are getting geared up for the hot weather that is just around the corner.

It has been almost a year since we held the 1st Kendo World Tokyo Keiko-kai at the Nippon Budokan on Saturday June 30, 2012, where we had 50 participants joining in keiko with seven 8-dan sensei. It is with great pleasure that we are now able to announce the 2nd Kendo World Tokyo Keiko-kai which will be held on Saturday July 20, 2013, from 10.00 to 12.00.

This event will be held in the kendo dojo at Meiji Universitys Izumi Campus in central Tokyo, a much bigger dojo than the one used last year. Meiji University is one of the top kendo universities in Japan, and its students regularly place in the team and individual university championships, and many of its graduates end up as tokuren competitors at various police forces around the country. In fact, Uchimura Ryoichi, the 2006 and 2009 All Japan Kendo Champion, is a Meiji graduate. Some members of the university kendo club will also join the practice.

As was the case with the event last year, some 8-dan sensei have been invited to take part. The first part of the keiko-kai will be kihon, followed keiko with the sensei. After that, we will move to the university dining room where there will be a buffet, some liquid refreshments, and a raffle from 12.30 to 14.30.

This event will cost Y5000 per person and numbers will be limited to 50. The first 50 people to register with us at tokyokeikokai2013@kendo-world.com, will be guaranteed a place. Please give us your full name, nationality, dan grade, and a phone number. We will contact you in due course with payment details.

The 2nd Kendo World Tokyo Keiko-kai will be held a week before the 39th Foreign Kendo Leaders' Summer Seminar in Kitamoto which is held from July 26 to August 2, 2013. Hopefully some of you who are coming from overseas for that seminar will also be able to take part.

We really hope that you will be able to join us, and are looking forward to seeing you again, or meeting you for the first time.

All the best in kendo and in life,

    The Kendo World Team

Hi guys. Seems to be a problem with the mail link. I clicked it to open email and both mails I have sent have not delivered. The link says 2013 but when clicked it takes you to email and has 2012. I'll try just copy and pasting now.

      Looking forward to the event!
