• 2010 Sportaccord Combat Games Kendo Event (Day 2)

Here again for the second and last day of the Combat Games Kendo Event. Should be an easier day than yesterday. We start off with demonstrations of Nippon Kendo Kata, Jodo, and Jo-Seon-Se-Bub (Korean sword forms). Then there will be the 8-dan Invitational matches, the East versus West match, and a number of other demonstrations to show various aspects of kendo culture. I will keep you updated of match scores. as they happen.

The Nippon Kendo Kata was just perfromed by Sato Nariaki Sensei and Osamu Asano Sensei. Now we have a demonstration of the 12 AJKF Seitei Iai Forms by Chihiro Kishimoto, Kawaguchi Toshihiko, and Ogura Noboru, all H8-dan. This will be followed by a Jodo demonstration by Shiiya Mitsu (H8) and Arai Hiroshi (K8). Then, the Korean sword forms.

That wraps up the competition events. Now we have the awards ceremony and a few demonstartions of kid's kendo, godo-geiko etc. It has been a great expereince being here. I hope they do this again. Nothing is set in concrete at this stage, but I think the Sportaccord Combat Games are generally regarded as being a success. KW will have videos and more detailed reports in the near future. Hope you enjoyed the coverage.
