Budo: The Martial Ways of Japan
The Definitive Guide to Japanese Budo
An Official Publication of the Nippon Budokan

Budō is enjoying astonishing popularity outside of Japan, more than the Japanese could ever imagine, and the potential of budō as a form of personal development is not unfamiliar to non-Japanese budōka. The main difficulty faced by enthusiasts overseas, however, is the dearth of reliable information. There is a growing number of books written in many languages that address the history and culture of budō, but nothing significant to date that has emanated from Japan. This book is the first such undertaking on this scale, being supported by all of the martial arts federations and organizations associated with the Nippon Budokan. It is by far the most comprehensive English language book on all of the Japanese martial arts ever to come out of Japan, and will serve as a dependable reference guide for a more penetrating analysis of budō culture in the future. It is a must have for all martial arts enthusiasts and scholars.

May I peek at Chapter3, section 2? I can't afford the whole book. And shipping charges are killer.

And within 3 days of ordering it arrived. Excellent service.

Wish the 30 kobudo summaries were a bit longer, there are some there that were new to me, but overall a worthwhile addition to my library.

Yeah, mine arrived in about a week-fast service indeed. Its a nice book so far-I've only just read the opening section really and I've yet to watch the DVD that comes with the book. Like most things Japanese, it has a feeling of quality to it, inthe physical sense.

The book is a treasure to own. It is a product of intense research and extensive devotion, and the information contained is more than worth the price. Having already read it twice, I fully encourage everyone to read it.

      Hi Mike

I was wanting to get my school to purchase this book for the library. Unfortunately the school cannot pay by credit card, and the cap on staff reimbursements is $50.00.

Would it be possible to use a school Purchase Order? Please PM me.

      cheers
