Spheres is a new project by the young Japanese shakuhachi player, Orimo Sabu made in collaboration with sound architect Baptiste Tavernier and guest vocalist Matsushita Masumi.
Shakuhachi and vocal improvisations meet the deep slow motion music spheres built by Tavernier’s structured subtractive synthesis generator, in an “immersive” flow of sounds.

Just recently I learned about Spheres as the music was being produced. Already a fan of the shakuhachi, the woody-toned Japanese bamboo flute originally used in meditation, I was interested as to what this combination of shakuhachi, voice, and computer-generated music might turn out to be. Beyond my best expectations, rather than a 'modern' sound, Spheres turned out to be a rich, soulful work, producing as much psychological and physiological effect as listening enjoyment. I quickly began to regard it as meditation music for the budoka, and purchased it immediately as a product for Kendo World. I believe many kenshi and budoka will have interest in this work and recommend it highly to you.

Forgive me if this seems stupid but I can't figure out how to hear the sample music. When I click the graphic, it just opens a new page with the picture but no music. I'm using FF 3.5.6 on a Mac if it helps.

I've added a link to download the sample just below the price. If you click on it it should just open up in your computer's media player, but you may need to right click and choose 'save link as...' depending on your browser/OS.

Hey everyone, I've been looking into Iaito lately, and I've found a few I rather like on Tozano.com that are nice and basic, as well as well within my price range. I'm consulting my sensei about everything, so don't worry about me rushing into buying anything based on what the forum says; I'm...

Okay, so the other night at training, one of the younger students asked me if there where any forms or schools in iaido that use the tachi, I explained to him the purpose behind a tachi, and that we teach the use of a wakazashi and tanto but I know nothing behind the use of a tachi except that it...
