  • Any other good Jodan kendoka other than Shodai sensei and Chiba sensei?

I want to watch more Jodan vidoes, but I am afraid I only know about 5 Jodan Kendoka on top of my head... So can someone give me a suggestion on who to look up?

    thank you.

There is Yamamoto Sensei. His daughter is on Team Japan and is really good, but she's Chudan.

There's also a young guy, Nishikawa Sensei who trains in Russia. i like his Jodan and he responds to email sent to him. here is his Youtube page. His opponents aren't very skilled with fighting against Jodan, but his Jodan is very clean, pretty & powerful. http://www.youtube.com/user/Russiakendo

I still love that "POW!" kiai his opponent uses.

Here is the list of the jodan competitors at the last (brazil) World championship. Maybe it will be usefull.

          Kirby Smith - Australia
          Kenji Shōdai -Japan
          T.Vidberg - Finland
          H.Herr - Germany
          Denis Rivas- Chile
          Edwig soldati - Italy

I also add the jodan players of the 57th All Japan:

          1) Takasaka Yūsuke, 29, 4-dan, (Shizuoka) third place.
          2) Matsumoto Makoto, 35, R6-dan(Osaka)
          3) Imoto Takeshi, 31, 6-dan(Saitama)
          4) Fujita Daisuke, 28, 5-dan (Gunma)
          5) Shōdai Kenji, 28, 5-dan(Kanagawa)

And in the end I will add Walter Pomero, 7-dan coach of the Italian team, and a very experienced jodan player.

Between the years of 1961-1975 the All Japan championships were won 10 times by jodan kenshi. Chiba sensei three times, Toda and Kawazoe sensei twice, and Iho, Hotta, and Yamazaki sensei once each. During this time the largest proportion of jodan kenshi to enter the All Japans was in 1973 when, out of 56 competitors 21 were jodan fighters. You might be able to search online for video footage of some of those matches. If you check the All Japan Kendo Federations youtube channel.

Also I don't know the name of it but you can probably search youtube for a Japanese documentary about a jodan kendoka who completes tachikiri all in jodan.
