  • Please post pics of your "altar"

Does anybody have an "altar" of sorts where you keep your bogu, Shinai, and other things? Basically, I am looking for an attractive way to organize and display some things that are important to me, like also my shaman's drum and smudges and some other things. Thanks.

I have a corner in my room with a bulletin board with my medals, broken shinai staves behind it, and in front the certificates and stuff I've gotten, and also keikogi that don't fit me anymore

I think this thread belongs in "Top 10 signs you're obsessed with kendo".
(I have a kendo corner too by the way, but not an altar altar if you know what I mean).

        Well. no "altar"...
But maybe something like this might be interesting for you to see?

Does a Canadian Tire hockey equipment rack in a closet in my basement count?

Yes, you got the idea I think the "vertical" rack for swords is a good idea, it allows more room for expansion For myself, I'm picturing a bogu stand either on top of some shelves, or shelves on the wall above the bogu stand, and I'd like a spot for one shinai horizontal in front of the bogu.

What's the point of a bogu stand though? Aren't you going to be using your bogu often?

I just leave my bogu at the dojang or in the carrying bag.

I was told not to leave the bogu in the bag as it won't have time to dry out and smells rather bad. Also the kote palms will become too soft and can be holed easily.
