  • Which US Federation is testing for 4D this Summer?

I am eligible to test this Summer but my local federation (PNKF) does not typically test 4D in the Summer, I would not mind traveling as i made a resolution some years ago to test when eligible.

    thx!

NCKF holds shinsa in May and November. The date for the upcoming shinsa is tentatively May 3 but it has not yet been confirmed.

The AUSKF usually holds shinsa at the end of their annual national kendo camp. This year, it is tentatively planned to be held in Dallas, Texas. The dates are TBD, but the national kendo camps are usually scheduled during the summer. Check this webpage for updates:

This year, the SCKF will be holding their shinsa on April 18, 2015 and October 18, 2015.

The MWKF Summer Camp usually has testing up to 4th Dan. I'm sure you can find some other regional summer camps. But you will also need permission from you local federation to test outside of your federation. I've heard it is mostly to make sure the member is in good standing but also I've heard a lot of federations don't like people testing outside of their local federation.

I heard that the PNKF shinsa in Kent Washington will have grading up to 4D this coming august. I know last winter in Feb of this year they tested up to 4 Dan, and no one on the 4 dan group passed. I think Jeff Marsten sensei is going to run a seminar for the examinees so that they can be more ready for the test but I have no clue when that is.
