  • Iaido in Central Virginia?

I am currently studying Tamiya-ryu in Japan, in my 5th year at said training, and getting ready to move to Central Virginia, just south of Richmond, and I need to find a dojo I can practice at. I also need to find out about how Japanese qualifications cross over to U.S. standards, as I was getting ready to take my 3rd dan test next month, but it's been cancelled due to damage to the prefectural dojo from the earthquake on March 11th. Any help would be highly appreciated...

The only Tamiya ryu that I know of in the U.S. is in Michigan. You can contact the U.S. head, Michael Alexanian, through their web site here ... http://www.ustamiyaryu.org/ If you are just looking for a dojo to practice at, then you may be able to work something out with the Koryo dojo ... http://www.koryomartialarts.org/Home/Welcome.html

      E-mail sent.

Hopefully, some of the Virginian kendoka/iaidoka can provide more input.

If you can make it up to the DC area you have a lot of choices.
