Thanks for the rep. Some sites, like emudo, don't make it clear that women need to size their hakama differently and it's not something I would have thought to ask if I was buying my first hakama. Welcome back to the 19th century I guess.

Yeah, asked the bogu shop guys, who didn't think it was funny, interesting or "do-able" - I have a spare, white set of bogu: "How about we paint a red heart on top of the 'men'?" Will just continue to not wear a "men" so, hopefully, no one will hit me. So far, only doing keiko with my teacher. Doing Kata with students.

Have you considered just asking your opponents to hit you in the neck instead of the head? Maybe paint your men with a bright colour so that no-one makes that mistake or something.

"Crouching Dragon" is the most accepted translation of fukuryu I see in English, and since I like to read a lot about martial arts (more than practice, I am ashamed to say... Medical issues notwithstanding), the play on words came naturally to me.
