Don't want to question on-line buying as it's convenient, etc. However, in Jan. ordered a bokutoh to use in Jodo, along with a bag made for carrying...

And a cup of sake from over here. Congratulations: big step from and some time after your previous paper-rank, and you persevered - great!

"Don't know if "After victory, tighten your armor" was excerpted from somewhere or your own words, but it was wonderful (on passing-3-dan post)." That's one rendition of an old Japanese saying. The other common rendition is "After victory tighten your helmet cords"

Thanks for the rep. Some sites, like emudo, don't make it clear that women need to size their hakama differently and it's not something I would have thought to ask if I was buying my first hakama. Welcome back to the 19th century I guess.

Thank you for the kind words and positive rep on the kendogi post.

Thanks for the rep and comments.
Apart from the agony of the broken foot - and the disgust at having a mortally-wounded fly inside my beak - - I had a chuckle myself....
  5. Yeah, asked the bogu shop guys, who didn't think it was funny, interesting or "do-able" - I have a spare, white set of bogu: "How about we paint a red heart on top of the 'men'?" Will just continue to not wear a "men" so, hopefully, no one will hit me. So far, only doing keiko with my teacher. Doing Kata with students.
    Thanks for the suggestion.

Have you considered just asking your opponents to hit you in the neck instead of the head? Maybe paint your men with a bright colour so that no-one makes that mistake or something.

    Hello there again

I can't send you a message because it tells me your inbox is full,
but in reply to your question on whether he uses Jodan still,

Not so much anymore, he has a bad shoulder now and has to take time off every now and again to rest it. I actually can't remember a time where I have seen him use it in the last couple of years D: I wish I had the privilege to see him when he was competing.

Sorry, since you lived in Japan I assumed you were joking about your knowledge of the language. My mistake. "Crouching Dragon" is the most accepted translation of fukuryu I see in English, and since I like to read a lot about martial arts (more than practice, I am ashamed to say... Medical issues notwithstanding), the play on words came naturally to me.
Thank you very much for your encouragement, you can be sure I sweat a lot. In fact, reiho is not even finished and I am already covered in water!

It's impossible to recover what is written with rep, but here it is: "Though my Japanese illiteracy prevents my pronouncing his/her avatar name, comment about Google Earth and America was great!". I found the part about your "japanese illiteracy" funny, given what you say about yourself in your profile, hence the "sense of humour" commentary.

And I am a him, by the way... The one in the middle in this pic. Did you imagine me that way...? It's okay,me neither...

The "Couching Dragon" thing pretended to be a play on words with the meaning of my nickname... I see it didn't came out that well...
