You're welcome for the rep and same here that I'm glad to see more girls into Kendo. Ganbatte ne!
No worries! Truthfully, I'm always surprised when someone says thanks for pos.rep. I figure handing out rep. is my way of thanking someone else for their positive contribution to the forum. So, thank you for your post!
You're welcome for the rep, dear - and well deserved!
It took me two months to figure it out.
Just took a look at your shinsa vid and I think I could make a guess as to what that one judge might not have liked. At ikkyu, they like to see large strikes (hands over your men) rather than small strikes so he/she might've taken issue with that. Also, at times your footwork got a tad out of sync and they might have wanted to see you step with a larger stride as you strike and do fumikomi. As I said, these will all get corrected as you prep for shodan. And on a side note, fantastic modeling photos by the way!
Congratulations on passing Ikkyu, now all you need to do is start training hard for your Shodan. I have 1 student going for Nidan in August and in November i have 2 going for Ikkyu, one for Shodan and one for Nidan, so i am training them hard just now as well. Luckly i have another 2 years before i grade again but my sensei is cracking the whip at me to get training myself.
Congrats on passing ikkyu. I wouldn't get hung up on which judge failed you but instead figure out their reasons, which will probably be corrected during your preparation for shodan. Now enough with being online, back to practice!
Thank you Jung Yul san
Just happened to stop by your profile and noticed you recently passed your Ikkyu. Excellent job! Keep at it!
Thanks! Same in Canada, if you fail your number will not be posted. If you pass, they tell you how many out of the 5 judges passed you. For me kendo was 4/5 and iaido was 5/5, lol I just wonder who's that one kendo judge who failed me, and why.
