Hey man! Haven't seen a blog post in a while. I hope all is well there! Did you compete at the Detroit Taikai in Feb? One of our guys was over there competing, too.

Hey! I found your blog in your signature and have been reading through it today. Good stuff, I always like to find new things to read and see how others are doing in their Kendo lives!

Hey, chris wanted to share my match with ya. My first time playing in the Yudansha division for our regional Individual championships. I really enjoyed it. I thought for sure I would get a ippon. lost focus a few times though which is why I lost and was disarmed in the beginning though.

My Ai-Jodan Match against an experienced San Dan ready to test for Yon Dan quite a few people thought eventually I would get the point since I was getting 2 to three one flags (I think all the Judges raised there flags at different times--just not all together lol)

hello Chris, I read your blog...very nice.
I wish that I could have an entertaining but private discussion with you.
I don't know if this will help you, but it helped me tremendously with understanding Kendo...
Ippon Shobu really means 1 beautiful kill or 1 beautiful death. Every moment in kendo, for me, is training for that. Losing or wining by the single, first ippon is an amazing feeling--it connects me to the fighters that actully lived or died by it--I feel satisfaction...

hope i didn't sound too nerdy or wierd,
    Dave

About Anime12478
Description:
I am probably what one would call hopelessly addicted to Kendo and Iaido at the moment. We'll see what all this practice could mean for me in the future. I graduated from Purdue University in December 2007 in Aeronautical/Astronautical engineering with a focus on Aerodynamics and Design. Currently, I work for Belcan in Cincinnati, OH doing controls engineering on the JSF engine. Thus far, I am enjoying the job and doing all I can to soak up as much experience in various projects that are assigned to me. Despite the move, I have been able to continue doing Kendo. Though, in an unexpected development, I have been able to practice five times per week, even being able to lead some classes. I have also been able to start Musou Shinden Ryu Iaido, which is an art related to Kendo, which I am also loving very much. The main thing I needed to get over was the fact I needed to start from the beginning despite doing another art for several years prior. While my knowledge of Kendo has shrunken the learning curve a bit, there are still new movements and concepts I have to get used to. I'm not all about Kendo and Iaido though. I do still enjoy video games, both current and retro. I have also been doing what I can to try out lots of new things and see new places while the free time is available. After being limited with various restrictions throughout my educational career, it's time to go out there and really find myself and taking chances wherever possible. Thus far, I consider myself pretty fortunate. I've been able to get the job offer upon graduation, being able to continue Kendo, start up Iaido and instantly gain new friends due to participating in such. I am really appreciating pretty much anything that's coming my way and living my young life to the fullest, without regrets. Pretty much the only thing that I desire at this point is someone to share the rest of my life with and move on to other stages in my life.
