I'm planning on going to the US myself to live with my gf, soon to be wife I hope, but she lives about 4 hours away from any dojo. I'll be 9 hours south of Chicago in Branson Missouri. So yes I can understand the frustration you must be going through. I'm glad you have a sensei willing to visit.

I just had another thought about the dojo think. I know Odinot sensei has always been high in the EKF, it might be an idea to contact him and ask him if he has any suggestions. I do not have an email address but you might be able to get in touch with him through the website of my dojo.

It might be an idea to look at other budo, Odinot sensei was in japan studying judo. His judo sensei introduced him to kendo and now he has 6th dan. Generally people who are interested in budo tend to have interest in other budo. I started with karate and jiu jiutsu, injured someone bad due to a mistake in training and that was the end of the fun. After doing some research on the internet I found out about kendo, too bad I was too late to enroll in the 2005 autumn beginnerclass but the next one I did. You could maybe design a folder. I could ask my girlfriend if she could help out, she's photographer and great in editing.

For years i have had plans to emigrate to the US sadly enough the place where my gf lives is the middle of kendo wasteland. Missouri. st Louise is a 3 to 4 hour drive away and Little Rock in Arkensas is about the same distance. I haven't contacted these people yet and I'm not planning to do any of that until I am packing my things to move over permanently. I do know that if I am to keep practising kendo in the US then I need to have achieved atleast ikkyu. Then by practising either on my own I could make the ride once a month and move from there. I remember hearing from you that you're even more in a wasteland when it comes to kendo. Is there any possibility for you to start form a kendo assocation?

A few years ago I had bought a shinai for my exgf and het 9 year old son, they never got to use them so now I am using a short shinai to get back in the moving. I can't believe how heavy her 38 feels and then to think I used koto shinai before. Today I did my first set of 100 suburi using an aerobic ball so I can kind of cheat bouncing slightly on it. It does feel great i can tell you. I miss kendo alot. The exersize having you look for your limits and move those further and further really getting to know yourself. Thanks alot for the support

Thanks for rep, I've set out a plan with the gym I goto to burn fat and build muscle. By now I know which moves locks my shoulder. I'm aiming at doing my first keiko januari 2012.
