LOL! Yes, I know Kudo Sensei. He's a pretty amazing guy—one of my sensei's childhood teachers, so we get occasional visits from him. He's doing okay—still teaching judo at RPI and the big camp every year. Though it was pretty memorable a couple of years ago in the summer when he showed up a little late, apologizing because he'd fallen off his roof . . .

Nope, I've never studied aikido. Started in tai chi chuan years and years ago, then moved into judo which I've been doing for about 7 years. Took up an offer to visit Lorraine's iaido class 3 years ago, hooked up with Sylvain Sensei's students a few months after that, and one of them was the person who later gave me the introduction to Meik and Diane early this year. Alas, not only did I miss ever getting to meet Mitsuzuka Sensei, I also missed Nitta Sensei of Buko-ryu, who also died last year. :-(

Small world, huh? I live in Springfield and I train MSR with some of the students Paul Sylvain left behind when he died. I actually started training with Lorraine DiAnne.

Congrats? I suppose . . . I guess I'm lucky it only took three years (and not a heck of a lot longer) to find a ryu that's such a good match for me.

Anyway, let me know if you're ever back in the area and would like to get some dojo time or something.
