Thanks and i wish you good luck, hopefully you and your GF/futur wife will be able to move to a more kendo "friendly" town.

I believe that we can keep on training especially that we only drill the basics that we've practiced under a sensei, in my case under 2 sensei plus fortunately for us, Alex's translation of both the AJKF instructional manual and Yoshihiko sensei's Kendo kata book are solid practical refferences, of course we'll do our best to attend seminars in Spain for instance (closest country with an established kendo community) or host some to get corrections.
Just last july a spanish sensei (José Gil) from Saragosa was invited to lead a seminar in the city of Tangier thanks to a moroccan kendo friend who lives in Spain, we're now in contact with him and the fact that he speaks english helps.
Besides continuing kendo training, our goal is to officialize our individual kendo level which might be feasible with the help of sensei Gil, we'll see what happens and thank you for the suggestions.

Yeah, we're thinking about starting a committee, considering our small number, the association will have to wait. Beguinings are hard and you know how kendo is when it comes to "recruiting" new members, but as long as there is passion, vigorous training and dedication, we'll get there someday.
  4. For years i have had plans to emigrate to the US sadly enough the place where my gf lives is the middle of kendo wasteland. Missouri. st Louise is a 3 to 4 hour drive away and Little Rock in Arkensas is about the same distance. I haven't contacted these people yet and I'm not planning to do any of that until I am packing my things to move over permanently. I do know that if I am to keep practising kendo in the US then I need to have achieved atleast ikkyu. Then by practising either on my own I could make the ride once a month and move from there. I remember hearing from you that you're even more in a wasteland when it comes to kendo. Is there any possibility for you to start form a kendo assocation?

I can relate to your situation, but in my case it wasn't an injury that stopped me from doing kendo, it was the fact that there was no kendo in my country, being already under its spell, it was like having a withdrawal, i had to wait for more than 5 years, most of them spent on KW as far as kendo is concerned, untill i met my second sensei by chance in a seminar organised by some aikido people here. Now it's been three years or so back in active duty with a new chalenge this year of leading our study group since sensei went back to his home country. As the sensei of my canadian sensei used to say in a japanese accent:"keep going"

Don't mention it, good to know that a fellow kenshi is working his way back to rejoining the training. Keep it up
