hey, tanks for the message. sorry about the delay.

and yes, you are right in what you say. in kendo I shouldnt let go a hand from the shinai or loose the kamae or the "fighting mode on" in any moment, not for arrogance or "the look", its becouse this shows lack of zanshin. zanshin is the state of mind in wich tou are always ready and concentrated until the fight ends. my sensei says that you have to think that you are fighting for your life so you have to use all your strenght and tecnique in every moment, not to "win" but to "live". thats zanshin.

so of course thats is a bad habit that Im trying to fix.

Thanks for the comment on my blog and I'm glad you like my blog. I think I'll keep going in the direction I'm going with it by making it like a notebook of sorts with information I like to find out through research, introspection and retrospection to help me out and also put more Kendo/Iaido related information online for others to read and think about on their own terms. I hope you continue reading and share your comments as I'm always interested in hearing about what people think.

urrrrrrrrrrr that sucks.. I hate nito. I think it is very selfish kendo. We have never learned how to block but I guess blocking is part of their waza. I have fought with Nito before but I have to say they are very tough... Hard to beat. As long as you had good fight, I guess that is all it matter. ^^

I remember watching that video you have posted. Jodan vs jodan.. I really enjoyed it. Good fight !!

Hi Dave, I had a great trip and was very glad I had a chance to practice with you and everyone at SD kendo Bu. The trip back was long and very tiring. I didn't really sleep on the plane so I went like 27 hours with no sleep. Needless to say I took a nap after getting home..lol. I look forward to my next trip out to San Diego and another chance to practice. Yamamoto sensei was very nice and I appreciate his instruction. I will practice the things he pointed out and will hopefully be able to be back for more in the not too distant future. Thanks again Dave!

A little of this, a little of that, felt like I've been around the world.
    Oh wait! I have! LOL
I'm doing iaido now as well as Kendo.
Fit and trim as never before, so watch out, big guy! LOL

Don't worry about it, my "joke" just came off as prickish in print. Sorry you're dealing with crap like that at work. My son's down with the flu right now and we're worried of course but so far it's mild.

ha ha ha i wish i could've been there! i'm moved to San Francisco cause of college. Sorry i didn't answer until now my computer also crashed so i bought a new one so all my bookmarks got deleted. I haven't logged on in a while. But if you ever come to SF come visit me at the dojo there.

Mine's the weekend of Nov 13-15... I'm not worried about the keiko portion... the kata has be a little concerned though. I'm sure you'll do well. The sensei are well aware of medical issues, so you'll be fine.

I was joking about it being another one of those crazy ninjers... if that was what I thought, I would have put it in the flames section. I was just trying to inject a little humor into the post to make it interesting.

How're things going? You got nidan shinsa coming up real soon don't you?
