    Thanks.
How did your kata situation play out? All ok?

I practice with the East LA County area guys when I go to the Sunday morning practice Industry Sheriff Dojo runs at the University of La Verne.
Yeah, Alan Kern is always a lot of fun to keiko with. It sounds like I might have my hands full with work stuff this weekend, but if I can free up tonight, I would like to head to JCI for one more round with him before he leaves for Atlanta; I think he's then off to Ft. Jackson for Basic, pretty much immediately following nationals.

I've never been to Gedatsu before. Outside of Westside on Wednesdays, I occasionally keiko with JCI Gardena on Friday nights, Industry Sheriff's Sunday morning practice, and at Kaneshiro-sensei's Valley dojo on Saturday mornings.

I work a Mon-Fri, 9-7 kind of job in the Marina del Rey area, so I've long assumed other dojos with weekday practices were out of my reach, but I went to the Gedatsu website to double check and I see their adults & yudansha practice doesn't start until 9:30p. So yeah, I could probably make it out that way for a Friday here and there.
I won't know about this Friday until Thursday though.
Let me know if you think you'll be out that way.

It was nice to practice w/ one of your dojo mates last night @ JCI. I think his name was Nick Gallagher, wears kind of a 'color-changing' dou. He may have mentioned recently graduating? makes me feel old. LOL

Ahh, I was on the same court, D. Were you going jodan on court D? If so, I remember that tsuki from Jason, it was spot-on. Honestly I was surprised not to see him throw tsuki earlier in the match. If you'd have won that match, it would have been really interesting to see you going jodan with the woman from Sho Tokyo that J.B. matched up with next.

I was one of the masses cut down during the round robin stage this time. Gaku Fukumoto from Sho Tokyo advanced from our group 2-0. I had a great match with him and definitely made him work for the win. No complaints (other than losing the match of course), he was simply better Sunday. I didn't do enough to protect my men from his debana waza and he capitalized on it.

Honestly, I haven't had much 'success' in shiai in a long time; a 3rd place in 2004 was the last time I went the distance. I've had some major time off since those days.

As is often the case, Costa Mesa had a pretty good day at yesterday's shiai. Were you there too? Jason Brown.... always impressive to watch!

Glad to be of help. Costa Mesa, cool. Good luck if you're competing at the shiai next weekend too! I'm at Westside (WKD).

Err sorry about the neg rep. I blame the computer! I thought your post was perfect advice.

Alright, I did a bit more research. I had assumed each doujou to have approximately 15 active members, and turns out I had done quite the underestimation. There is a total of 11 doujou here (list) so I think it's fair to assume some 170 people in total.
