Just watched your ai jodan vid and I must say you looked pretty good out there, especially considering your aite was a sandan with more experience in jodan. I thought you landed a couple nice kote but I think the zanshin was lacking so it didn't quite make for yukodatotsu. I'm a tad surprised at that last kote though, it seemed like you spaced out for a second and left your kote open. All things considered though you did a fantastic job. We had the AEUSKF taikai on Sunday and I won my first match but lost my second. Not happy with my kendo that day at all after looking at video of it but I have yet to see the team match vids. I'll let you know when they're up.

Hi Bokushingu, have the new tricks worked?

Well, regarding tsugi-ashi there is an interesting observation from Sotaro Honda sensei in his article "kendo tactics for 3°-5° dan". if i remember it correctly he said that if your opponent use tsugi-ashi and you can feel the very moment he begin to move the left foot, then you can land wonderfull tobikomi men. In that very instant he will be vulnerable. He said also that tsugi -ashi is very good to reduce maai unnoticed. Both aspects are very usefull don't you think?

non existent right now! i tore my left calf muscle on tuesday night. thankfully it wasn't my achilles, but still serious. i can't even stand in kamae, or walk normally for that matter. been to the doctor, and he's sending me for ultrasound, possibly an mri. I'm swimming though to try to keep some kind of fitness over the next few weeks. how are things going for you?
