There is an opportunity to practise supervised tameshigiri at this seminar (£15 to cover the cost of materials). However we'd need to know numbers by Wednesday 17th September. If you're interested, do let me know.

Unfortunately the travel dates are rigid due to work commitments: I have to fit in with University vacation times, so it looks like I'm going to have to miss the taikai (can you hear me stamping my feet and crying?).

I did discover the sword shop at Nijo online as I've been doing a bit...

Oh that's great. I've planned to go to the Budokan so I'll check that out.

Any ideas how I can find out if there are any events going on? I'll be in Tokyo from the 23rd-27th March and Kyoto from 27th-31st April.

    Thanks dillon.

    Shopping in Tokyo/Kyoto/Nara

I'm going to Japan next year and would like to get my hands on some nice sageo, Iaigi etc....the sorts of things I see overseas participants with at seminars! Can anyone recommend any places I could visit with a nice range of Iaido wares in any of the above cities?

Maybe we imagined such a contraption... Perhaps I should consider getting my kitchen ceiling raised a few feet.....

I think it was more like a k atana tsuka than a shinai's, Neil.

    Kitchen Swordsmanship

I keep a cheapo ebay tsuka by the kettle in my kitchen and when I'm brewing up, I use it to practice my kata footwork and arm action until I can pour my hot water-good use of 5 minutes. My sensei saw this in my kitchen the other day and said he'd seen a 'weighted' tsuka with a tsuba and weight stuck...

Our Vice-chairperson was taking photos for the new BKA website (live very soon) and she usually posts them on Facebook but I can't see them. I'll ask her if she intends to post them or not. There was somebody else taking photos but I didn't recognise her.

Are you still smiling from passing...
