Hey, congratulations on passing. That's a great thing.

I too, was very stressed out on the day of my San-dan test. However, did you notice any change in your "stress level" at any point of the test?

Once I put on the Men, I found that everything just melted away....

Well, that was a brave, and well thought out post. I admire your courage in doing so.

Taz, hey man, as you're a veteran I can see where you're coming from. You did a service to the country which I did not, so we have some differing perspectives on the subject.

I respect yours (and the service you did), so I'll just leave it at that. The playing of the national anthem isn't...

In regards to the national anthem discussion:

My thoughts are that Kendo is something that goes beyond national borders, and the inclusion of a national anthem makes it all feel a bit "sporty" and incongruous.

I hate to say it, but I reckon you are SOL. You can check the AUSKF website, but.....

    Guess there is always suburi!

"People here like to caution all beginners to keep their "heads down" but in the end, being a kendoist who persists and survives, you can't keep your head down forever. Depends on what you want from kendo and what your personality is. " - That's well said. Nice one.

I just received a new Men from them a couple of weeks ago. The first time I put it on, it fit like a glove. Superb products from this company.

    You chose well!

I have to agree with Krys on this one. Especially as a beginner, it's better to just learn Kendo instead of worrying about aesthetics.

Once you have a good few years in and are in yudansha ranks, well then, I guess it's cool to go ahead and starting thinking about that stuff.
