Since you are in Osaka, I supposed the Itto Ryu you familiar with is Ono-ha Itto Ryu. They were known to be traditionalist, do not practice shinai geiko in the past.
I watched them practice and discussed with them. Luckily, many of them have website, only in Japanese though.
Itto Shoden Muto Ryu
-About their uchikomi geiko, from their branch dojo website...
In Itto Shoden Muto Ryu, they practice using very short shinai, no more than 3 shaku 2 sun. They do not use katate-waza (one handed technique) nor do-waza (strike to the body), but they can trust not...
I admit that it looks bad that a nidan ask this kind of question. Normally I perform the kiriage like anyone here suggested. The problem is I never really know what it will be like to do the same...
Thank you everyone.
Yes, it is gohonme not yonhonme, my mistake..... yonhonme is tsuka ate not kesagiri.....
I'm a bit nervous as it is my first time sensei ask me to try shinken as I passed nidan exam (I used to...
I always wonder that if I using shinken to perform znkr iai no.4-kesagiri, will the blade cut through saya. I ask my sensei about this and he say no problem, then he show doing it with his shinken...
Me too. I don't think Japanese postal service is the problem. (I live in Japan)

Don't worry about shattering my world. I still consider it as a pre-war style kendo.
Haga dojo in Tokyo still do something like that in 2006, I called what they are doing, pre-war style.

I think ken no riho always use in term of principles of the katana nowaday. When some Japanese say ken no riho it's unlikely that they mean double edge straight sword from the ancient time.
I like this one, it's like ZNKR vs. AJKF.
I watch the video from that dojo awhile ago, but now they delete it from that site.
I applied anyway. Onegaishimasu.
Agree! actually in the rules, it can be a point in some circumstance. It is an unwritten rule that is the problem. Last time I check, the written rule regard shoto score isn't change!
Funny how it's appear that katate-guntojutsu in kenjutsu textbook from the Meiji era use exactly the same targets, and they consider it's the real army swordmanship. Police in Meiji and Kobusho...
There are 3 tenranjiai, 1929, 1930, and 1940.
You can order a whole set of DVDs online easily.

Me too. I still have not received my issue too.
In pre-war era, various ryu-ha still influence kendo, there are many way to strike and various footwork. Noma Hisashi sensei in tenranjiai 1930 use the same footwork as in the video and also go...
Exactly. May be it's pre-Vietnam war as well. Apparently it's post WW1.
I hope I can save the video.
So pre-war kendo isn't that different after all.
They never reply me again.
