There are few AUSKF/FIK "for profit" dojos. Some are pretty strong too.
I'm a mere shodan, and this is just my opinion, but just because a hachidan does something I don't think it would be necessarily correct way for others to repeat same thing. Especially for Mudansha...
I'm not saying it's proper thing, but it is one of the options. As Halycon mentioned, I think college level Kendoists should be familiar with hiki waza.

You can also look into dojo's in New Jersey and Pennsylvania since it might be close to you than MD dojos (most are in central MD or southern). I believe Most NJ/PA dojos belong to GNEUSKF and EUSKF,...
MD dojo list is here. The AUSKF website is outdated and doesn't show all of dojos.

Click on Settings on top of the page, and it should take you to a page where you can see "Latest Reputation Received" with all the messages sent.
It might be because you're raising your left foot too high which puts more stress on your toes. I had same problem when I was a beginner, but it stopped once I adjusted how high I was keeping my left...
Masi Oka, Japanese guy from show Heroes is a Shodan in Kendo.
I only have 1 :(
oh, that's sad. It looked like this was going to turn out like a good movie.
Not sure if it's been posted before, I bumped into this online. According to the website movie is still in progress. Their last update was from 2 years ago, if anyone has any info about the full...
What's really sad is that their students devote so much time and effort training with them to learn their "Kumdo", and at the end they aren't learning anything legitimate. Their former student who...
Fukoro Shinai, as I understand are precursor to the modern shinai that's used in Kendo. They were used for Kenjutsu and are still used in some Koryu Kenjutsu schools.
