Couldn't you move to where they do Kendo?
3:50 is the best part, I love how he can do so many attacks with prefect footwork, almost sounding like drums.
Ever since I saw that, I been trying my best to copy it and make it work.
Chiba sensei has said that every cut he does even in suburi is meant like you are cutting to score Ippon.
I think I will listen to the words of an 8th Dan Hanshi and three times All Japan Kendo...
Why did it take two weeks for you to find out?
Don't you normally find out right away after the grading when they put up a list of numbers who have passed?
If you do that in pretty much any Dojo, don't be shocked if people start laughing. :P
Is that a rule that you must have 5th dan to start or contiune an Dojo? Seems pretty extreme and unworkable to me.
How do universities or colleges clubs start a club if they must have a 5th Dan...
Other then using our kiai to control our breathing it's also meant to be a form of communication between the two Kendoka from what I been told.
1. They can't decide what makes an 9th or 10th Dan anymore but as someone said, they give it out as an honourable reward it seems.
2. You can do whatever you want, you can fold it so it's already...
When you say... you don't want too train more then once a week? You just not motivated or interested to train more?
Can't you not reach an other Dojo by train or bus? For my second and third...
My Sensei keeps saying every so often that if you really want to improve you should practice three days a week at least.
One day a week or two hours won't get you very far, two days a week will...
Great, I sent you an email now, thank you. :)
It's the super large bows that make me cringe.
Awesome, what would be the best way to message you? By the alljapanbudogu.com email address or something other?
Andy is it possible to add an payment system where you can pay X over Y time for items if the purchase is going to large?
I see this a lot in the Anime I watch. Do many Kendoka from where you are practice one or the other?
Never heard of this, but I read that when Samurai used to enter a house or an building...
That's pretty normal, my beginners course lasted 12 weeks and we only started to wear Bogu after the 12th week, it took about 6 months before we could enter an Taikai.
Yes, that's pretty...
Pretty much sounds like my first lesson from about two years ago, the only differences is that we started with Shinai's and didn't get to use them till our second lesson.
Thank you for sharing!...
I seen one of these videos like above where the guy falls over or his sword goes flying out of his hand.
Still, watching this guy do his "thing" made me cringe, but gotta hand it to the guy still,...
Awesome, really glad to hear that! ;)
Do you mind telling us what your first lesson was like?
Don't worry too much about it, but keep it in mind.
At Taikais (competitons) or if there is lots of Kendoka training in a small space and there are Shinai's everywhere, sometimes you just can't...
An Shinai is meant to like an Katana and since the Katana was meant to be an Samurai's honour and soul, stepping over it or on it is pretty much an insult which could result in you losing your head.
Yes, time surely flies fast, wish it would slow down a little. :)
I don't think I had much thoughts on Kendo before I started and during my first year, I know it wasn't going to be easy and it was...
My sensei has a saying that you have to adapt Kendo to your body, so whatever injuries you have, you just adapt Kendo to what your body allows you to do.
There are Kendoka who are in wheelchairs,...
Kendo during your early beginning days isn't very hard, through I guess that depends on your Dojo.
My beginners course lasted 12 weeks and the very first lesson was pretty much a talk on Kendo,...
