Then simply do more cutting/suburi with your iaito..........
Definitely this.
I started afresh on my own. It's possible if you want it.
You quoted me out of context - the person I was responding too was asking a question. As you say, "Generally" is not ALL.
That's not what I meant at all - but you seem happy to put words in my mouth, why don't you tell me again what I meant? :normal:
This is very much true. I have my second student grading this month.
Not sure who is more nervous!
Not all Iai is Iaido really - This forum is dominated by Seitei students so the responses lean a lot that way.
As I mentioned before, we train and may get to grade, or may not.
It's the...
We generally get told when we are grading so it's not really an issue. Just keep training and you'll get the tap on the shoulder.
After 2nd Dan you should be pretty aware of what the next 30 years...
Sadly, not so true nowadays. Our Legal system has caught up with yours...............You can't even rent a dojo space without $10 - 20 million dollar insurance cover now.
It's sad.
To make it...
:ermm:
I see your point but it's not just "Festivities". The dinners are the best part of training - when the real conversations/knowledge comes out
Having just had to organise my own cover for my dojo, I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable it was.
It shouldn't be too hard for a large organisation to manage this?
Sadly, not evidenced by this website......
Make it June and I might be in Town!
"Instructor's Course" forsooth
I fly to Townsiville twice a year for Batto with a shinken and Iaito. The flights are usually with Jetstar, the Qantas subsidiary. Never any problems with Baggage.
I thank you for this smiley
Where are you based Jason? The kinks can be modified a bit but they will always be there.
Funny, I was just browsing for it myself....
Of course - I wasn't getting to the nth level as it gets even more confusing........Bamboo in my style is more than tenouchi application, there is a slight difference to the impact, but I digress......
One of the bits about Tameshigiri that gets mis-translated/forgotten is you don't apply any tenouchi until you hit the target.
If you do it too soon, you scoop
I always demonstrate the "lack" of grip needed to do a good smooth cut by just holding the tsuka with your thumbs locked. point your fingers straight ahead and only close them on the tsuka at the...
Indeed - I've been 4 times and it's still cool! Mr Igarashi always smiles as he knows he's got some iaito to sell guaranteed
That is exactly the same with Nosyiudo as well. They are a bit out of the way but we go there every year.
This year I met the guy who will be making a new handle for my shinken and had a tour of...
People remember Chestnuts with nostalgia as they are good.
It's no skin off my nose - tell me, if you get told to go and do Noto 100 times in the corner, do you do it or question the need?
...
Read into it what you will, the point is you're over thinking it.
I'm not sure how old you are but the "respectfully ask" thing is relatively new. I'm only 38 but had plenty of the "Just do this"...
