chill out.. he's your instructor in Kendo.. just learn from his Kendo.. if you don't like him you don't have to be friends outside of the dojo
I do it sometimes after I score and I'm "in the moment" or to get people's attention when I'm teaching.. it's a bad habit
full contact and many competitions.. I noticed most people who play Kendo / Kumdo are very competitive
What qualities are you talking about? Their attitude/personality, or their Kendo skill? If you just don't agree with their personality, I don't think you should let that influence how much you...
Are you from Koryo then? One of the people from our dojang practiced there recently for a few months.
I'm 19 and started practicing when I was 16. Practicing Kumdo improved my concentration, awareness, confidence, posture, etc. On the flip side, I work on those same things to improve my Kumdo.
does VA mean the state of Virginia in the U.S.? maybe you practice at the same dojang as me?
Doing jodan / nito is considered "going the harder way" ?
Why wouldn't they know how to score a doh? In my experience if you do it at the right time and go through you almost always get the point.
I actually heard that deer leather rips more often than cow leather, but deer leather is softer (more comfortable) and doesn't get hard after your sweat dries on it.
but they weren't selling anything to begin with?
I leave it out when I'm home because I leave it at the dojang. When I'm at school I leave it in the bag. It's not like I wear it much at school anyways.
And I brush my teeth twice a day.
What's the point of a bogu stand though? Aren't you going to be using your bogu often?
I just leave my bogu at the dojang or in the carrying bag.
I would recommend swimming.. it builds every muscle and it's pretty hard to hurt yourself swimming. Just don't do breast stroke because I heard that stroke is bad for the knees. All the other...
I have a corner in my room with a bulletin board with my medals, broken shinai staves behind it, and in front the certificates and stuff I've gotten, and also keikogi that don't fit me anymore
be sure to stretch a lot.. every part of your body.. my knee was bothering me but I started swimming and taking Bioperine Enhanced 3-in-1 Joint Formula.. helps a lot
I don't think tsuki too important.. it's hard to score with so you won't use it often (if at all) and you probably won't get scored on by it.. if you just move to the left or right 2 inches they'll...
that's how the Korean swords are, but we don't use those at our dojang. we just use Iaito.
bend your right knee and you'll be lower to the ground for doh cuts on shorter players.. your back is always supposed to be straight
bend your right knee
what is a katsugi waza?
yeah unless you lend them your new shinai that your friend brought you from Korea and you've never used and they break it during the match -_-
I'm not Korean but I go to a Korean dojang and our Sabumnim lectures to us in Korean. I can pretty much tell what he's saying though, but I still ask someone to translate for me afterwards. So I'd...
Why is it unorthodox to cut it going forward but not unorthodox when you cut it going backwards? We're taught both.
