Seemed pretty clear to me. He doesn't think ZNKR iai is iaido. It must be something then, but the question is what. That's where he'll need to fill in the blanks. :)
Thanks for this. I considered Germany this year, but I'll hold off on that as Stevenage is more familiar to me, having been there once.

There's also a naginata club at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Center in Toronto.
My observation is more or less this (ignoring other factors such as health, family or career):
For every ten people that take up a traditional art, seven will likely quit within six months to a...

That's the link to their RSS feed, Neil. The article is on the front page of their site.
Here's a direct link.

Sorry, couldn't resist.
Try pointing your back knee toward your front. It will over correct your back foot initially, but you'll get the feeling for what constitutes something closer to straight ahead and eventually be...
Folks realize the original post was five years ago, and the most recent before it was brought back from the dead was three years ago?

So after one brief test run, I'm currently about halfway through my first full sageo.
It's called Hira-se, and is a 12-strand flat weave using approximately 2.4 kilometers of 40wt embroidery...
Apologies for the necro post, but I've recently acquired some traditional kumihimo equipment and, hopefully, will be able to produce nice sageo in fairly short order. Just need to run some samples...
That would have been these folks, but they're from Vancouver.
Wasn't what I was trying to express, although I would imagine any teacher would wish their teachings to evolve through their students. Fortunately for us, and needless to say, we can all agree that...

I write to announce that Goyo Ohmi, nanadan and kancho of the Mumonkai iaido club based in Toronto, Canada was awarded the rank of kyoshi on November 24, 2012.
Ohmi sensei has and...
