Why? I have footage from two different demonstrations of Kendo kata performed by both of them. One is a performance in front of the Emporer,the other shows the complete Kendo no kata seemingly...

No,they stopped doing that at least a couple years ago.
I was a student at UMASS in the 80's and I remember non-students in a Karate club.
My favorite kata right now is Ryozume. Short,sweet, and right to the POINT!

This is a VERY lightweight keikogi. I have the indigo one. It's nice for hot summertime practice, but will not serve at all to pad against stray shinai.
