Tomoe Gozen

I discovered this lady samurai a few days ago and I wanted to know if you know her and what do you know about her... Mostly all I know is some leyends about her and her strength and that she was a naginata expert.

Tomoe Gozen was said to be expert not only in naginata but also bow and sword as well as fighting from horseback and on foot. There is a article on her in the wikipedia at :

Yeah, that's mainly where I got all of the information I know about her from aswell. I think I first heard of her from a link in their Naginata article though.

i read about her in a book somewhere, i think it was one of the japanese history textbooks i picked up out there.

i wonder which river goddess people thought she was a reincarnation of?

Thanks for that link. Very interesting - I hadn't heard about Tomoe Gozen before and would love to find out more. Has anybody read the books mentioned in the article by Jessica Amanda Salmonson? I'd love to know if they're any good.
