    Niten Ichi-ryu

Does anyone know about the two sword style?

How do you score in Kendo with this?

    Is it effective?

    Thanx,

Nitoryu Kendo and Niten Ichi Ryu are different things.

Nitoryu is kendo with a size 37 (or 36, cant' remember) shinai for daito and a special smaller size one for shoto. The mechanics look to me ( the unitiated) as somehow similar to Jodan fighting with the addition of the shoto, which parries most strikes while the daito goes for shomen or migi-men.

Niten Ichi Ryu is a koryui kenjutsu style, who has several different 'lines' since it's founder. I believe the most 'famous' one is Hyoho Niten Ichi Ryu, which is practiced (as with most koryu I think) in three sets of kata, Odachi vs Odachi, Kodachi vs Odachi and Odachi + Kodachi against Odachi.

    Cheers

Niten means two heavens and has no connection with Kendo except for the fact that the present Soke also teaches kendo at his Dojo.

It has no kata but waza. It includes long, two-sword and shortsword techniques it that order. Also bojutsu and jujutsu. You are unlikey to see any of the latter three done in public. Although in future you may see some kodachi if I keep up the effort. I managed to break a kodachi in a hard practice last week.
