Hmm...you may be right about the MANSLAYER...definitely within this country anyway...

And yes, I hope I can be back soon, but I'm looking at the very least a month's worth of recovery after Friday...so I guess it's gonna be June before I'll be back in bogu...and maybe not even then. But let's see.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Currently at home recovering, and the surgery went well by the way. I hope I can be back in the dojo by this Saturday, but that's only to watch of course. I'm planning on taking a bit of a longer recovery time because the doctor discovered some...issues when he took a look at the inside of my knee. So...guess that means I'll be back in practise in July still. Just so you guys know.

    Cheers!

from what ive read, haidong gumdo is different from kendo or even kumdo. if you want to read more on it, turn you browser to http://www.stormpages.com/haidonggumdo/

Just to add to kaneida's info, you can search the forums for many threads on Haedong Gumdo, but to summarize...well, many people don't have a high opinion of it. The gist of it is that it was being marketed with a fake history, and the founders were even taken to court because of it. So while it looks like an interesting martial art, it kinda begs the question why the need for a faked history?

Anyway, it's not the equivalent of Kendo, as it seems to be more of a wushu type art, but using a katana like sword. The Korean equivalent of Kendo is Kumdo, which is virtually identical except for the translated terminology and minor changes in ettiquette.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers!

Yup, it still is. And practise is still 5-7pm every Saturday. And if you're thinking of joining, the next beginners' class will start on the first week of July. Though I would encourage you to pass by before then, so you can view a typical practise and sign up for the waiting list of that class. You can also ask your questions about the club and Kendo in general.

    Hope to see you then.

    Cheers!

Ah, I see. Well, the fee has been upped. It's now P750 a month, but this is collected only once every two months (during the first Saturday of odd numbered months) so you actually pay P1500 per collection day.

    Hope this helps.
