Yup, we are. The only break we get is the one in December. Otherwise no break from the Saturday practises, pending the occasional super-typhoon or political instability...

I sincerely doubt that kendochamp! But thanks to your (and the other sempais') patience in teaching us the tricks of the trade so to speak, we're slowly and painfully learning kendo. The hard way of course, there isn't any other way is there?

So I guess I'll be seeing you guys next year, the first week (Saturday) of January God-willing. Have a Merry one, oh, and a Happy one too!! Meanwhile, stay away from 'em firecrackers guys, its going to be hard to do kendo with missing fingers.

Looks like you will be going the way of all foreign countries on that one...making it yourself, or buying one in! If you want some nice material try getting hold of a ladies chinese dress,(preferably when they are not wearing it..) its just the right length cut longways and the patterns look good.

    Interested In Manila Kendo

I'm interested in joining the club. Is there anybody I can call before going to RFM gym on 6th Jan 2007(1st Saturday)? I live in Sta. Rosa, Laguna so its not really near. My questions are:

    Is there any age limit?
    What must i bring?
    Can i start immediately?

Well if you're just going to inquire about things, you're more than welcome to ask them here.

    1) There is a current age limit for how young to start. The official is a minimum of 14 years, though we tend to fudge a bit and do accept younger students.

    2) If you're starting immediately, you should bring some cash (to pay the initial fees, which should be around P5000 total - this includes a one time joining fee of P2000, the dojo fees for the next two months of P1500, and the cost of the shinai which could range from P1200-P1500) and some comfortable exercise/workout type clothes. BUT...

    3) I'm not sure if you can start immediately though, because we usually encourage people to watch at least one practise first, and to sign up on the waiting list for the next beginners' class. Now currently the waiting list is somewhere between 34-36 people, and we only tend to accept 30 people maximum. There is a big chance though that not all of them will show up, so you can get in through the empty slots. If not, I'll encourage you to pass by anyway. That way you can see how a practise is conducted, and you can be one of the first people to sign up for the waiting list for the July Class.

Hope this helps. If you have more questions, either message or PM me through here.

    Cheers!

Practises are generally two hours every Saturday, from 5-7pm, except for the last Saturday of the month, where we extend it to 4-7pm (3 hours). If your question regarding summer practises means that you're planning on joining in the summer, I'm sorry to inform you that the beginners' classes start only on the first Saturdays of January and July. If you want, you can pass by this Saturday to see if you can still join the class that just started last week (please refer to my post to ironshaft above as to details on what to do). Otherwise, yes we do have practises over the summer. The only real break that the club has is during the Christmas season.

So are you saying that your feet were hot during training? Sorry, couldn't help myself... Anyway angelhynxz, be sure to introduce yourself to me next practise. I was the guy making the general announcements after the Club President spoke, just so you know.

    Cheers!
