Kaneida is right Kamua san, next beginners' class is usually on the first Saturday of July. Please sign up earlier as there is I think a very long waiting list. Hope to see you in the dojo soon.

oh, additional info, if you do want to join, go to the dojo before the july training starts and sign up for the waiting list in case there would be many of you beginners who want to join. from what i know, the beginners class is only up to 30 students at a time. or like me, you can go to the dojo at the first day(first sat of july), only an hour early (but really, you have to go to training an hour earlier) and maybe you can get a slot. but i do think you can get one.

Hey guys, while I was in school yesterday, I saw a shinai lying around, well actually, it was left with the guard, anyway, the guard said he is a college (undergrad) student taking up legal studies, and I've just learned that they go to our Makati campus (College of Law) every Saturday (and I know the Kendo training is on that day) 'coz they have classes there. Anyway, to cut the long story short, I'm just curious who this guy is, we go to Lyceum of the Philippines, maybe one of the guys here is him, or maybe you know who he is...

Well I know at least one law student who's active in the dojo although I'm not sure if he's in this forum. He's studying law in Lyceum so he might probably be your man Kamua. The other law student I know is from Ateneo.

Actually, the guy from Lyceum isn't a law student yet, but a college student taking up legal studies, which is different, it's a pre-law. However, most probably, that's him, 'coz none of the law students in our school are doing kendo, well, as far as I know...So there's an atenean law student practicing kendo huh? Cool!

I see, I might have misunderstood him while we were talking about his course (assuming we're referring to the same guy), because I kind of remembered that we were talking about law school since my wife used to teach there. Anyways, it was really unfortunate that my batchmate in kendo had to stop to concentrate on his studies but well, you know how it is in law school (or any other school for that matter), especially bar review -- they're like work, sagabal sa kendo [obstacles to doing kendo].

I'm interested in Kendo, how can I join?

Good day to all of you, I am Paolo and I am very interested about Kendo. I didn't know that there was a Kendo club here in the Philippines until I found your website.

How can I join the club? Are there any requirements? I would like know the details on how to join, please help me. Sorry if I registered in the forums without any permission because I don't know how I can post a reply or a question without being registered first.

Please email me or just post the details here. Thank you. My email is paoloyuson@yahoo.com

your best bet would be to go to the dojo, and ask the nice lady upfront. she'll be able to answer those questions. but from what i know, it depends how far youve gone in training. if you were still part of the bieginners class, youll start from basics. and it depends how long youve been gone. i think if youve been gone long enough, theyll put your status to inactive.

    good day paolo,

if you wish to join, you can go to the dojo (check out map at http://www.manilakendo.com) saturday, from 5-7 pm (training sched), and you can inquire there, and get yourself listed. be reminded that the next beginners class would probably begin first week of july. and no worries with the registration dude, the forums are here to help you and are free.

Hey Stinger. Dunno if I'm correct, but are you one of nana_chan's batchmates? The one with the sister in HK who watched the competition last year? Well, anyway all you have to do is go back to the dojo and reactivate your membership. There's a P2000 reactivation fee that you'll have to pay. If my guess is correct, you're already in bogu, so we'll probably stick you in the middle class for a few weeks so you can get re-acquainted with your kendo before putting you with the seniors. Anyway hope to see you back in the dojo soon.

Well, kaneida has already given you the pertinent information you need. I would just like to stress that passing by is important, as a lot of people have a different view of what kendo actually is. It's good to see first what you're planning on getting into, so please do pass by. We'll be glad to help you out.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers!
