yup it was fun and also tiring.. hehehe . medyo ilang ulit ako napagsabihan sa mannerism ko . Nakaka intimidate yung sensei namin.... Pero sinabi naman nya na, Our enemy is our own self, we have to deal to ourself to overcome our weaknesses. Kelan ba kami hahawak ng shinai. Just asking lang

Yup, I think kendo is about surpassing yourself, more like becoming better than you are yesterday, just wanting it for the sake of hitting and looking cool is too shallow for a reason and most who think like that usually do not last long in training.

You may start training with a shinai if your basic forms are good enough, your sensei usually decides if you and your whole batch is ready for the shinai.

In the future, yes when you are already wearing the bogu(armor), there will be no permanently assigned partner, we face different partners randomly(if you notice during training). You may face a taller/smaller, weaker/stronger partner so better prepare for that!

Don't worry too much about that, just focus on your present training, be patient and have fun do what your sensei instructs you to do. build up those basics and you'll be doing great in the future.

It will always depend on the person whether being a left handed will be advantageous or not in handling the shinai. You already proved it yourself.

Left or right handed, it will take time before you can become comfortable in handling your shinai. Again, regular practice is the solution to your wobbly shinai grip.

    Good day..
i would like to ask if is it ok to use a wooden stick shorter than our shinai just for training purpose. Having a low ceiling urges me to use that stick..but that stick has the same weight as my shinai its only quite shorter

    Hi there,

I am Dojo leader for an MJER Iaido club in Edinburgh, Scotland.

I have one of my students moving to Manilla very soon, does anyone know of any Iaido clubs in the Phillipines or anyone in the Phillipines with knowledge of iaido who would be willing to teach.
