Alrighty, my name is Sai yi feng (my chinese name). Right now I'm in China for the summer and training in a dojo in Shanghai. After speaking with my sensei, he told me he would help me open a kendo dojo in dubai!

So i called up the Japanese consulate in dubai (the embassy redirected me to the consulate) and

    I got this answer:"What's kendo?"

I finally managed to talk to someone who knew what kendo was but i couldn't hear him properly (bad connections for an international call).

Anyways, after speaking with my sempai he gave me a few ideas. I want to round up everyone who is interested in opening a dojo in dubai (united we stand, divided we fall!) and we can thoroughly discuss our course of action.

We need to communicate with the consulate and search through the Japanese community in dubai. We could always talk to the International kendo federation if we have any more problems, but for now we need to unite and search through the Japanese community.

I would call up the consulate again, but international calls are costly (and they keep putting me on hold). From what I could hear was the guy was telling me to call him back when I come back to Dubai (which will be late August). Right now, I can easily communicate with my senseis here which can advise me on what to do and we can use their connections. That's why I don't want to wait till I go back, it'll be harder keeping in contact with them.

There is Kendo Club in Dubai, we practice 2 x week at Emirates International School Main High School Sports Hall in Um Sequeim (Al Thanya Road).
Practice is held every Wednesday from 8.00pm and every Saturday from 4.00pm.
Sensei is 6th Dan and we have around 30 members with the Dubai Kendo Club. FYI there is also an Abu Dhabi Kendo Club they practice at th Japanese school again on a Wednesday evening and every Saturday from 9.00am.

Dubai Kendo Club alo advertise in Time Out Magazine under the listings section.
