Were it not for the lower right corner, I'd have guessed they were advertising:

    1. fruit
    2. kitchen utensils
    3. hardwood flooring

    and not

    1. kendo
    2. katana
    3. fabric softener

"Pigeon" fabric softener? What I think of when I think about pigeons isn't really something that I'd care to have my clothes smelling like. Nor, come to think of it, is my kendogi a particularly exemplary piece of clothing on either the "soft" or "nice smelling" front....

I like that, even if it's kind of nonsensical.
(Who washes their kendogi with fabric softener?)

(And...pigeons do not smell nice. But nicer sometimes than kendogi, I guess.)

i think the ad makes a lot of sense in a comical way.... it suggests the softener is so strong and effective that it even 'softens' the manly and rough samuraish/kendoka carachter into a delicate apple peeling person.... lol. did that even need explanation??

and i do use fabric softener on my keikogi!! and know a lot of people who do... you got to treat your dear kendogi with only the best haha

Maybe there is a hidden niche market for luxury/self care products in kendo? Soft, nice smelling kendoka versus the rest. ;-)
