This guys a no credibility at all and none was given to him. I do feel that there is more dangerous schools out there that took some unwaranted credibility and pose as the real thing.

Anyway back to your Musashi thing. I could not resist to post this video of Jimmy doing his patented Nito culinary robot cutting waza. Truly belongs top a blade show.

His comments also are priceless. The only tradition he is perpetrating is the traditional know it all redneck myth. This is in my view deserve a bit more attention than the other video that was posted although the video was indeed a good bafflement source.

I would far rather have seminars and sensible discussions on here than this sort of tripe.

I'm going to make a reassessment of this if I may. The first time I watched it was without sound, but when I heard the commentary, it changed considerably.
This man in his 80s now learned some budo in Japan in (I think he said) 1947. How much was going on in 1947? How much could he have learned back then compared with the contact we have now? Next to nothing I'd say, and I doubt he was there for long. How I imagine this panning out is that he returned to the UK and continued to train what he remembers of what he was shown. And of course we have no knowledge of the quality of what he was shown in the first place.

Consider if any of us had a student for say one year, and that student then went away and trained what he remembered of what you taught him for 60 years with no further input. What do you think his iaido would look like in 60 years time?

Of course one would criticise anyone for continuing without further input, but in the 1950s and 60s what opportunity would there have been? And perhaps he was not taught enough to realise how little he knows. His cuts are weak, sure, his posture and timing is meaningless, his body and sword have no connection whatsoever, but I get the feeling that his heart and intention are in the right place. And what's more, in his 80s he is still mobile enough to continue doing his thing.

It is sad when we see people training in ignorance, not realising the wrongness, or inadequacy of what they are trying to achieve. To call himself a Samurai or a Ronin, or a 9th Dan hanshi for that matter is bad. But that is a distraction. After all these years he still enjoys what he does. I say let him continue to enjoy it, and we (including me, I can't withdraw my previous post) should not be so righteous and judgemental.

I think I said somewhere a similar thing about his age and his dedication to his art - but the tragedy is his students are mislead about what they are learning and then go on to teach this art with the belief that they are doing something that they are not.

Sure, Mr Holt may not be running some belt-dispensing McDojo, but he is bordering on the realms of Bad Budo, to use E-Budo's term.

Sorry but it was my true and honest feeling that the original video posted was from a complete lunatic in comparison to James Williams which the technique in the video I posted was nearly as bad but technically is now seen as the one publicly that does THE REAL THING. So I sincerely believe that this stuff is a bit more damaging to JSA than some old fool ranting about nonsense that just looks like a joke In comparison James Williams is playing with words etc and can fool some intelligent individuals for a while in thinking he really knows something when in fact he does not.

This has nothing to do with hated etc as you want to imply it just has to do with reality and right now James Williams is publicly THE point of comparison when talking about commercial bullshit.
