    Question Tenugui

Does anyone know of a decent place to get some tenugui? A lot of the sites I have seen so far don't convey the message I would like on their tenugui. I'd also like one that does exactly what its intended to to.

    Any help?

    Thanks in advance.

For JPY15000 for the template + about JPY400 per tenugui you can get one made up to your own design. Try emailing one of the online kendo stores.
Or as Yowai would say just go to your local haberdashery and choose a piece of material you like the look of.

The folllowing URL has some samples.

    http://www.tenugui.co.jp/tenugui/TGAindex.html

    Kendo tenugui are at

    http://www.tenugui.co.jp/tenugui/kendou/kendou.html

Try the following for some inspiration.

    http://www.page.sannet.ne.jp/n-onihe...ki/tenugui.htm

    http://www26.tok2.com/home/ryozanpaku/tenugui1.htm

    http://www.kisweb.ne.jp/sakai/14r.html

Prices seem a little cheaper than what I quoted. I must have been ripped off!

Remember that "tenugui" means "hand wiper".

If your system supports Japanese text, cut and paste one of the following.

    面タオル (men towel)

手拭い (tenugui - this is the one I used)

手拭 (tenugui - without the okurigana. Will give more hits)

add 剣道 to refine the search.

You are best off searching from www.google.co.jp
After you search look on the right hand of the screen for distributor advertisements.

The following site is good, but maybe not really what you are looking for.

Damn - if only I knew what some of those things said, I'd be just peachy. Unfortunately, I don't have a Japanese friend really who could help me obtain one.

What type of "message" are you trying to convey?
Kendoshop.com has men towel, and you can even order your own.
Price is US$230 for 50 of your own design.
Look at the men towel section at the following URL.

    Thanks for the link.

I want something that represents myself. I find it difficult to judge whether something accomplishes that if I can't read the writing on the tenegui. I have no problem with them being in Japanese, I just wish there was a description somewhere that told me what is being said on them. I hope it doesn't come across as picky or anything, it's just like signing a contract that you don't agree to (or can't read).
