I contacted my land lord and he went out to buy a humidifier. He said there was no leakage cause the floor is cement with carpet on top. I'm going to try to see if it works. I don't think He seems like a nice guy after i told him about the mold the next day he went to buy a humidifier and checked out he room. it is really bad just the humidity. It was 75% hum and he said it was suppose to be from 40-45. Hopefully i don't get sick.

You need a DE-humdifier. Mold grows in moist locations. You need to dry out the location, not increase the humidity level.

Change the location of where you are keeping your Bogu, hang it up.

You won't cure the mold problem until the carpet is replaced and the concrete subfloor has a waterproof sealer applied to it. I would bet that the concrete is unsealed, and the moisture has been coming up through the concrete, it then soaks into the carpet....if you pull up a section of carpet I would guess a forest of black mold is located under your carpet.

I highly doubt your landlord will replace it, so I would move ASAP. Mold is VERY BAD for your lungs. Check your rental agreement for HEALTH provisions.
    Art is not easy.

That's exactly what I was hoping too!

Unless the landlord figures by contributing to more mold it will kill you and therefore he won't have to compensate you ...

OMG that has got to be one of the SCARIEST things I've ever heard in my life.

    :shivers:

Yeah, especially if you're living in a forest of mold...get out ASAP. I wonder if you could call the health department on this guy, if he refuses to fix the carpet? (and if thats were the problem is?)
I feel bad for ANYONe who lives there... in a forest of black mold...

and since your bogu got mold by lying on the floor... the forest of black mold under the carpet kinda makes sense. If you decide to take a peek under the carpet (you can peel back a small corner without the landlord knowing and without damaging anything, right?) will you let us know what you find?
Meanwhile, wear a in your house! :P hah if you could. o_o sounds awful.

Is anyone else reminded of the movie "Dark Water"?

Check the roof for a water tank...

Oh, and move out while you still can!
Up with this I will not put!

While moving out, try the bleach for your bogu and wall. I use Clorox regularly on my bogu ( Diluted of course ), it kills anything alive including mold and smells generated by them. Try 1 to 10 or 1 to 15 ( Clorox and Water ) and try it first on inside. If it's too strong, it'll change color and damage the fabric. But properly diluted, it'll do wonders. I use left over spary bottle for this purpose.

I thought creepy crawling mold only existed in Japan... Like everyone has said, sunlight is the best bet. Keep your gear hanging up in a well ventilated area. Kendo gear is usually resilient to mold and mildew based on my limited experience, where did you buy your bogu?

Concrete will sweat on hot days which is probably your apartments problem, also open your windows and let light into your apartment to dry it out.

My first year in Japan, I had to throw out a bunch of clothes I had stored in my closet due to the build up of mold. Air circulation and exposure to the sun works best to defeat the creepy crawling mold monster.

Mold in your apartment is very dangerous. There are mold types which are toxic.

You can get alergies ir lung problems.

Mold of any kinda is a serious health problem.

You should heat up the place so it can dry, ofcourse let your landlord pay for this

    yeah i meant a De-humidifier .

Well after it was set in it worked wonders. But i will check a corner to see if any mold is growing. I know that i can't get out of it. The rental agreement says nothing on it. Plus my rental agreement is until Dec.

I bought my Bogu from E-bogu

thanks everyone for helping out and being concerned. Yeah i'm going to have a talk with my landlord after what happened. It made me really concerned after my bogu got infected(nothing messes with my bogu and gets away with it).

Just because your rental agreement does not state anything about black mould under your carpet does not mean there is nothing you can do about it.

Here in Canada we have the 'Office of the Rentalsman' that is supposed to be a type of watch-dog agency.

There may be some such agency where you live. It would be well worth checking in to so you can find your full rights and your landlord's full obligations.

I will do that. I just hope there is something like that here. I looked underneath the carpet but nothing was there.
